Challenges
Currently, fully-electric vehicles registered in Germany between 18 May 2011 and 31 December 2020 are exempt from federal motor vehicle ownership tax (German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, German Central Customs Authority [in German], Evannex). While Germany had targeted getting one million EVs on the road by 2020, it recently announced a new target date of 2022 (Reuters, The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association).
