The US Congress is considering various measures to regulate the growth and use of AI, including waiving immunity under Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934 for generative AI (Axios, US News & World Report, Senate.gov - Josh Hawley). Section 230 is a statute that protects social media and other companies from liability for content their users post (The Verge, The Conversation, Cornell).
