Will an F1 driver secure the 2024 championship at or before the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix, scheduled for 27 October 2024?
Closed Oct 27, 2024 07:01AM UTC
In 2023, Max Verstappen was crowned the F1 Drivers Champion at the Qatar Grand Prix with five races to go in the season, tying a record set by Michael Schumacher in 2002 (CNN, Formula 1 Points, Formula 1 - 2024 Schedule). The question will be suspended on 26 October 2024 if still open and the outcome determined using driver standings and open source reporting. If the Mexico City Grand Prix is canceled or postponed to a date after a subsequent race, a driver will have had to secure the 2024 championship before the currently scheduled date for the Mexico City Grand Prix to count.
