What will happen next regarding New York City Mayor Eric Adams?
Closing Apr 28, 2025 07:01AM UTC
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has already begun fundraising for reelection in 2025, though federal investigations have cast a shadow over his campaign (City & State NY, Politico, AP, NBC News). The governor of New York State has authority to remove or suspend the mayor of New York City (Spectrum NY1, NYC Charter - Chapter 1, §9). If Adams announces both that he will not seek reelection as mayor and has resigned or will resign in the same statement, the question will close "Adams will either resign as mayor or publicly announce that he will resign as mayor."
