Among many other things, Donald Trump has vowed to "get rid" of the US Department of Education, which was created during the Carter administration (NBC News, AP, US Department of Education). The date the Department of Education will cease to exist is immaterial, and a consolidation of agencies or departments that includes the Department of Education whereby the Department of Education ceases to exist as a stand-alone department will count.
