For which month will the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) next report 6.5 million or fewer job openings in the US?
Closing Jan 1, 2026 08:01AM (in 8 months)
The number of job openings in the US has continued to come down from post-COVID highs, but they remain elevated despite high interest rates and policy uncertainties (AOL, Yahoo [Reuters]). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2025 if still open and the outcome determined using BLS data as first reported by the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) database (FRED, BLS - JOLTS Release Schedule). As of the launch of this question, the total number of job openings reported for December 2024 was 7,508 (in thousands), or 7.508 million. Subsequent revisions will be immaterial.
